We visited Iceland participating in a trip organized by CTAil Globe and Adventure Size .

E 'Monday, August 18 when, after having wandered a few days for the fjords Norvrgesi, against us in Bergen with the group organized to give beginning to our trip and the next morning we board the ship Norrona, nice cozy and comfortable. After twenty-four hours of sailing a short break of three hours at the port of Torshavn, the capital of the Faroes, allows us around town.
the morning of day 21, after 45 hours of sailing we are finally in Iceland, customs operations quickly and without special controls. Stage in the nearby Egistadir where refueling and a little shopping at the supermarket. The day is cold and rainy, we continue to Hofn via the road along the sea, some parts are made of dirt easy, but disliked by the persistent rain. We stop for the night after about 40 km Hofn, it's late but this allows us to assist, for the first time, the amazing phenomenon of the northern lights.
August 22. Beautiful day sun, temperatures above 20 degrees. Several stops along the way to the beautiful sights that you encounter. Arrival in Jokulsarlon, a place that is worth a trip, the icebergs that are reflected In the AC
here blue lagoon can not be described in words.
L 'next day we allow ourselves a day of rest at the camp of Skaftafell National Park with a visit to the waterfall Svartifoss with its basalt columns and the nearby plateau Sjónarnípa which offers a wonderful view of the glacier Skaftafellsjökul. Saturday 24
still following the south coast we pass Vik, known for its wool sweaters in bright colors, until reaching the head Dyrhólaey, the southernmost site of Iceland. Proseguimo for the waterfalls and Skogafoss Seljalandfoss before stopping for the night at the camp in the town of Selfoss.
Departure from Selfoss and quick for a good way to get to the national park of Thingvellir (Piane Assembly) and where 'the famous stretch of the fault showed ocean
ica that divides Europe from America. Along a stretch of dirt road about 16 km, in good condition, you get to Keyser interesting spectacle of the heads. Continue to Gulfoss, which with its large water capacity and the large face is the most visited waterfall in Iceland. Stop for the night on the square of the waterfall. Monday, 25
us in Reykjavik where we stop five hours more than enough for a visit to the small town center with few tourist attractions. In the afternoon transfer to the nearby Reykjanes peninsula where you can swim in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon spa in the parking lot of what we spend the night. We take the opportunity to make a quick visit to the fishing port of Grindavík with an interesting museum codfish.
We always follow the coast on highway No. 1, the Ring Road, passing through the fjord Hvalfiordur (whale fjord but we is not 'touched to see) until Akranes where we visited the museum center, interestingly enough, but their collection more or less begins at the beginning of the twentieth century. Borganes to stop for the night.
Thursday, August 28. Day dedicated to the circumnavigation of the peninsula through Snæfellsnes Arnastapi, beautiful port where a fisherman gives us the fish. Friday
continue around the peninsula with numerous stretches of dirt road up to Borgarnes where you return to the Ring Road, stop for lunch and to climb the volcano Grabrok rising easy and interesting. A few kilometers before Blonduos, where we will stop for the night, detour on the road 721 (8 km of dirt road) to see the church of Þingeyrar certainly the most interesting of the island, worth the detour.
August 30. Stopping a Glambaer, where you visit a village Icelandic (reconstruct) with houses made of turf, we arrive at Akureyri before lunch, stop at the campsite and after lunch visit to the city. Akureyri, in our opinion, is the largest city beautiful, blessed with a mild climate that allows the growth of many plants has an 'interesting botanical garden and a pleasant pedestrian area, now decked out to celebrate the feast of the end of summer. 31 / 8 Reached Húsavík attempted to board a special boat, whale watching, unfortunately without success. In the afternoon visit to the lava field where Adaldalshraun are some lava caves, but most interest has been devoted to mushrooms "poussin" collected in large quantities, at the same site we spent the night after seeking permission from the owner of the land.
Monday September 1st arrived on Lake Myvatn and enjoy the surroundings, among other things, the pseudo Skútustađir, Hverfjall the volcano and hot pools of Grjotagjà. In the evening, dazed by the wind, we arrive at the campsite Reykjahlíđ lake.

oo to gray, boiling mud pools, splash of pressurized steam, the ' air impregnated with the smell of sulfur. It had to be the world at the beginning! Later we visit Krafla, the largest lava field in Iceland and lakes screws, small and deep blue. Cross the Icelandic wilderness, just like the Sahara, black instead of gold, up to the waterfall Dettifoss where we stop for the night. On September 3

What Is Kates Playground Last Name

2007 OTHER TURKEY

We have once again chosen to Turkey, not Turkey Classic touristicization and the Istanbul Cappadocia, Ankara ... .., but Turkey or eastern Kurdistan, the Tigris and Euphrates, Mount Ararat, the land of Abraham ... ...
A journey of 40 days and 9200 km in fact May and June 2007 when the weather is not yet fully summer, the days are long and temperatures easily bearable. One curiosity: Since Turkey extends in the direction of the sunset in the parallel period of our journey is at 21 and beyond on the Aegean coast and 20 foot of Ararat the easternmost point of our journey.
Crossing quickly come to Istanbul using a bell'autostrada Safranbolu, known for a big group of well-preserved Ottoman houses and a major destination for domestic tourists, and here on the Black Sea coast
The green of the woods, with the flowering of the rhododendrons and the blue of the sea are the backdrop for this beautiful stretch of winding road and close to Sinop and then beautiful, large and well paved up to Trabzon. Along the way, is
a must detour inland to Amasya, one of the most beautiful places in Turkey, built on the banks of the river Yesilirmak, a city where it is pleasant to walk on the riverside of the which are an assemblage of picturesque half-timbered Ottoman houses, large interest are the historical sites, especially the rock tombs of the kings of Pontus, the fine old mosques and medresse (Koranic schools) and numerous hamam dating back six centuries ago and are still fully functional and regularly used by local people. A
Trabzon leave the sea to rise Anatolian plateau, from now on we will always share between 1500 and 2000 m with peaks of 2500. Now the greek Orthodox Monastery Sumela, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, founded in the Byzantine era and now abandoned, clinging to a steep cliff overlooking a rushing stream. Always
eastward through Erzurum, the valley of Tortum with the visit of Georgian churches and the castle which dates back to Oltu 1000 BC we have reached Ani, whose ruins, scattered on a plateau overlooking a canyon that marks the turkish-Armenian border, speak of the greatness of what was once the capital of Armenia from 916 and largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1319 .
The mountain forests have given way to grasslands and steppes, herds of horses, cows, goats ....

descend along the Armenian border, the villages with roofs of earth alternate with tents of nomadic herders until Dogubayazit where the evening, lit by the setting sun, we see Mount Ararat in all its majesty.

After Dogubayazit town along the Iranian border, numerous checkpoints, soldiers are very friendly and recognize us as soon as there are tourists continue. It 'also the highest road is a step to 2644 m. We go down to Lake Van, (1720 m above sea level) and give us two full days of rest in a camp, so to speak, before the island of Akdamar where we visit the Church of Santa Croce, one of the wonders of ' Armenian religious architecture built around the year 900 AD. Rest
face the road to Dyarbakir, really bad has put a strain on the camper and the driver, it must be said, however, that Work is ongoing to modernize it.
Dyarbakir, the capital of Kurdistan turkish, enclosed by a mighty walls of black basalt from which you can see the Tigris River, is a different world! is beautiful? is not beautiful? must see it and immerse yourself in the life of the inhabitants and their customs. A
Siverek leave the road to ferry us back to the west on a bra
ccio the largest artificial lake (GAP) and go to the National Park of Mount Nemrut. Around 50 BC the summit of Mount Nemrut was converted by King Antiochus I of Commagene in a huge mausoleum decorated with colossal statues that depicted together with the gods. Many of the statues were beheaded by the earthquakes and now heads lying at the foot of the statues. I got out of a flat route Nemrut and rich crop of pistachios is leading us to Sanliurfa city of the prophets where legend has it that God rescued Abraham from death sentence imposed on him by King Nimrod. Sanliurfa, because of its proximity to Syria, the Middle East is the city most of our trip where we saw the wonderful bazaar in chador women and men wearing traditional Arab wide trousers.

A journey of 40 days and 9200 km in fact May and June 2007 when the weather is not yet fully summer, the days are long and temperatures easily bearable.
